McDonald's is experiencing technical problems in its restaurants, with customers in several countries reporting being unable to order food.

Social media users have also complained of issues in restaurants in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

McDonald's has so far not commented on how widespread the issues are.

McDonalds in Japan, which operates around 3,000 stores in the country, said the company was working to "Resume store operations soon".

Downdetector, a system used to monitor IT problems in businesses, noted a spike in issues with the McDonald's UK app from around 05.00 on Friday morning.
